Saffron, the stamen of the Crocus Sativus, is considered the most expensive spice in the world. For 1 kilo of saffron, you need the stigmas of about 150.000 flowers and each thread of saffron must be handpicked.

Our pure saffron is organically grown in Maremma in south Tuscany. Its complex flavor is ideal for risotto, paella, eggs, soups and other rice dishes. But remember, a little goes a long way. Only a couple threads per recipe!
